How to Protect Towns in FIRE PLANES
Houses first, forest last — and how to last all ten Town Defense waves.
The Roblox description puts it in one line: drop water on fires and protect towns. Poko said the same thing after his first dumps: the point is saving people. FIRE PLANES will let you spend a whole round painting empty woodland. You will have a pretty screenshot and a weak payout. This page is how to play the town, including the ten-wave Town Defense mode and the Town Defender badge.
If you cannot scoop yet, stop here and open How to Scoop Water. A dry plane cannot defend anything.
The targeting rule
Treat every dump as a choice:
- Fire that is touching or about to touch houses.
- Fire that is cutting the road between a lake and the village (your refill path).
- Fire that is spreading toward the village from upwind.
- Everything else.
Official thumbnails show yellow airframes over red-roof clusters with a fire cell already in the trees beside them. That cell is the dump. The cell on the far ridge can wait.
The drop planner turns this into a pass geometry: slightly nose-down, hold Space, cover the street grid, climb out over water rather than over the next roof.
Realistic and Mega Fire still have towns
You do not have to vote Town Defense to play this page. Procedural maps spawn settlements in every mode. In Realistic, towns are the scoring tell. In Mega Fire, towns are the triage: you will not kill every cell, so you pick the village and let a hillside go. That is not failure. That is the job.
A useful habit: after each scoop, look at the town before you look at the biggest flame. Biggest flame is often already spent forest. The quiet orange next to a house is the round.
Town Defense: ten waves
Town Defense is a vote mode. The Town Defender badge reads: “Contribute to surviving all 10 waves in Town Defense.” Award rate is roughly 0.6 percent — thousands of players have it, millions do not. You must last the full set. Contributing matters; sitting AFK in a lake probably does not, though the game does not publish a contribution meter.
Wave plan:
- Waves 1–3: learn where the houses sit and where the lake is. Do not get greedy on distant cells.
- Waves 4–6: fire lines get longer. The large amphibian starts to shine because one tank can cover a street. Starters must cycle faster.
- Waves 7–10: no shopping, no joyrides. One pilot should stay as the “on-station” dumper while another scoops. Roles are on the players hub.
If the village is already gone on wave six, reset. You are not farming the badge on a ghost town.
Airframes for house work
- Starter single-engine: fast to the next lake. Good when waves are short and you need cycles.
- Large amphibian: one long dump along a fire front. Best for waves that arrive as a line.
- Helicopter: hover dumps on a single rooftop. Weak if you have to cross the whole map for water, strong if a lake sits next to town.
Rankings: plane tier list. Unlock order: Earn Money Fast.
Six-player coverage
Servers cap at six. Town Defense wants that cap. Two pilots can hold early waves; ten waves wants overlapping tanks so someone is always full. Chat calls:
- “Lake south, town north.”
- “I have tank, taking the west street.”
- “Dry, scooping.”
Voice chat is not supported on the experience page. Text is the coordination tool. If you are stacked for Most Fires Extinguished as well, remember that badge wants 100+ fires and three players — a different goal than keeping one village alive. Do not farm cell count by igniting the town. That is the opposite of this page.
Mistakes that burn villages
- Dumping the whole tank on a cell that already died.
- All six pilots scooping the same lake while the east street lights up.
- Buying from the shop during wave nine.
- Flying through smoke at rooftop height with invert pitch still confusing you. Fix that on Controls.
- Treating Mega Fire habits (ignore a town, chase the biggest flame) inside Town Defense.
After a win
If you clear ten waves, you should see Town Defender. If you do not, you may not have contributed enough — stay on station next time instead of sightseeing. Then decide whether to cash out toward the tanker with the money planner or to run Realistic as a cooldown. Patch notes that change wave count would be logged on the changelog; as of 14 August 2026 the badge still says ten waves.
New players who landed here from search should still complete Getting Started so the HUD icons make sense. Town Defense is a lousy first round.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for FIRE PLANES pilots.
How do you protect towns in FIRE PLANES?
Dump on fire that is about to touch houses, keep a lake path open, and ignore distant forest until the village is safe.
How do you get the Town Defender badge?
Contribute to surviving all ten waves in Town Defense. It is rare; bring a group that can scoop under pressure.
Should I vote Town Defense as a beginner?
No. Learn Realistic and a clean scoop first. Ten waves will wipe a server of inverted first-timers.
Is the helicopter better for towns?
For single rooftops, yes. For a moving fire front, the large amphibian’s tank is usually better. See the plane tier list.
