The first complaint almost every public FIRE PLANES video records is the same: the plane feels broken. Superlex Plays spent the opening of his June 2026 session fighting the nose, then commenters explained the model is doing what a real stick does. This page is the control reference so you stop crashing into lakes for the wrong reason.

FIRE PLANES is an arcade firefighting sim, not a study-level cockpit. There are no flaps, no mixture, no radio stack. You have pitch, roll, a water dump, and a camera. That small set still has a trap: default pitch is inverted relative to most Roblox obbies.

Hold Space for a continuous dump. Tapping wastes a tank on a ten-stud stripe that does not kill the cell. There is no separate throttle key in the sessions we reviewed: energy comes from pitch and the airframe’s built-in speed. The large amphibian is slower; the starter single-engine is twitchier. Invert pitch, in plain language

On a real yoke or stick, you pull back to climb. Mapped to WASD, that means S climbs and W dives. Arcade players expect W to go up. FIRE PLANES ships the aviation mapping. The gear icon in the HUD opens settings; invert pitch flips it to arcade. Superlex’s comment section is full of people who thought they had found a bug. They had found an airplane.

Turn invert on if you play simulators rarely. Leave it off if you already fly other Roblox aviation games. Either choice is valid. Mixing them mid-round is how you fly into a hillside.

Gamepad

Use the left stick for pitch and roll. The face button bound to jump in most Roblox games is the water drop — hold it. Several comments on the Superlex video said lake refill felt more generous on PlayStation than on mouse, likely because analog pitch lets you hold a flat attitude on the water instead of porpoising. If the tank will not fill, flatten the stick and sit in the lake for a second instead of skipping like a stone. The scoop guide covers the geometry.

Mobile

Touch thumbsticks replace WASD. The on-screen drop button is Space. Invert pitch still lives in the gear menu; it is worth opening before your first scoop because a fat-fingered dive on a phone kills more first rounds than empty tanks. Landscape orientation gives you more sky. Do not try to tap drop in short bursts while also fighting the stick — hold drop, then steer with the other thumb.

Camera and crashes

There is no cinematic landing minigame. Crashes dump you back into a plane, but they waste the tank, the line-up, and the round clock. Superlex’s practical tip still holds: gain altitude after a scoop so a missed drop is a go-around, not a wreck. Trees and ridgelines on procedural maps are not collidable decorations; they will stop you.

If you clip water at high speed and the tank stays empty, you did not scoop — you crashed into a lake. Slow the descent, flatten, then let the refill register. Console players described “getting close” as enough; PC players usually need a visible splash.

What is not a control

• There is no documented key for landing gear. Amphibians sit on the water when you commit to a scoop.
• There is no separate “engine start.” You spawn flying.
• There is no crew seat swap. One player, one airframe.
• Voice chat is listed as not supported on the Roblox page. Coordinate in text or Discord if you formed a six-stack for Most Fires Extinguished.

Practice drill (five minutes)

1. Join, vote Realistic.
2. Open gear, set invert pitch, close the menu. Do not touch it again this round.
3. Climb, then make one coordinated turn without losing the horizon.
4. Descend into a lake, fill, climb to a safe dump altitude.
5. Hold Space across one fire line, then go-around even if you missed.

If that drill feels clean, you are ready for Getting Started payouts and the drop planner. If the nose still surprises you, stay in Realistic until invert pitch is muscle memory. Town Defense’s ten waves will punish a single inverted pull at rooftop height — read Protect Towns before you vote it.
