FIRE PLANES Game Modes
Realistic, Town Defense, and Mega Fire — what each vote actually does.
Every FIRE PLANES round starts with a vote. The official Roblox description lists three modes: Realistic, Town Defense, and Mega Fire. Poko’s first session shows the vote panel before takeoff. Pick wrong and you spend ten minutes in a mode your airframe and your group cannot handle. This page is the mode guide so you vote on purpose.
Maps are procedurally generated either way. The mode changes the fire problem, not the scoop button. Water still comes from lakes, dumps still use Space, and cash still settles at the end of the round. Details on the loop are in Getting Started.
Realistic
Realistic is the teaching mode and the default vote for a new server. Fire spreads through forest and toward towns at a pace you can answer with one or two competent pilots. You can practice scooping, learn invert pitch, and still save people.
Vote Realistic when:
- Anyone in the six-stack is on their first flight.
- You are testing invert pitch or a new airframe.
- You want a complete round instead of a wipe.
It is also the honest place to learn that dumps on empty forest pay less than dumps that keep houses standing. Read Protect Towns even if you never queue Town Defense; the same targeting rule applies here.
Town Defense
Town Defense is a ten-wave hold. The Town Defender badge description is explicit: “Contribute to surviving all 10 waves in Town Defense.” Win rate on that badge sits around 0.6 percent — this is the hard mode, not a reskin. Waves escalate. If the village burns out before wave ten, you do not get the badge.
Vote Town Defense when:
- At least three pilots can scoop without crashing.
- Someone is willing to stay on the perimeter instead of chasing pretty fire in the hills.
- You actually want Town Defender.
Do not vote it as a joke on a server of first-timers. You will waste six people’s round. Coordination tips and wave priorities live on Protect Towns. The large amphibian helps because the tank lasts a whole wave if the drop is placed on the approaching line, not on already-dead ash. Helicopter buckets are useful for precise rooftop work if your group has one unlocked.
Mega Fire
Mega Fire is the spectacle mode: bigger burn, more cells, more chances to print cash if you can cycle scoops. It is also the mode that looks great in thumbnails and wrecks pilots who cannot refill. Smoke hides lakes. Fire can surround the water you needed. The live session embedded in this page is a long wildfire fight — use it to see how chaotic the sky gets when several planes dump at once.
Vote Mega Fire when:
- The stack already has clean scoop-drop cycles.
- You are grinding cash toward the tanker (see Earn Money Fast).
- You accepted that some cells will be lost and you will triage towns.
If the vote lands on Mega Fire and you are still inverted, open the gear menu immediately. You will not have a calm lake to practice on.
How the vote should work in a six-stack
Servers hold six. Average population sits near four, so public queues are often a mix of new and returning pilots. Chat a one-line plan:
- New majority → Realistic.
- Badge run → Town Defense, and say so before the vote.
- Money run → Mega Fire, only if at least two people can scoop.
If you need Most Fires Extinguished, you already need three players and 100+ fires in a single round. Mega Fire is the natural farm for that badge; Town Defense is not, because you are guarding a village rather than farming raw cell count. Badge rules are on badges.
Mode vs airframe
| Mode | Starter single-engine | Large amphibian | Helicopter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Realistic | Best teacher | Overkill but fine | Fine for rooftops |
| Town Defense | Playable if you cycle fast | Best tank for wave lines | Best precision on houses |
| Mega Fire | High risk, high mobility | Best volume per pass | Weak if you hover in smoke |
Full rankings: plane tier list. Do not buy the tanker only because Mega Fire won a vote. Buy it when your scoop is clean; otherwise you paid $500,000 for a slower crash.
After the vote
Fly the mode you got, not the mode you wanted. Switching airframes mid-round is allowed through the plane shop icon, but taking a shopping break during wave eight is how Town Defense dies. Cash still arrives at round end, multiplied by Double Money if you own the 199 Robux pass.
For official mode names, trust the Roblox description and the in-game vote panel over rumor. If a fourth mode appears, it will land on the changelog first.
